It was a cold Monday morning
top of the day for what it's worth
sky was dark and grey no rays of sun
reached the earth
thankful for his boots as he stepped deep into the snow
turned up the collar on his coat as the wind began to blow
looks from the windows became looks from the street
shot a sideways glance in his direction while remaining unseen
he could feel the eyes from all around but he just didn't care
doors swung wide behind him as he walked up the stairs
as he walked away
the prints from his boots melt the snow
he smiles and lights his cigar as his back begins to grow
